Or maybe ‘Unfortunate Conclusion’
Despite our obvious Utopian viewpoints, we are realists. At this critical juncture in world history there is only a small possibility (5% – 10% we’d guess) to avoid or significantly delay the ‘destruction’ phase of the four cycles:
1) Birth, 2) Growth/Maturity, 3) Decay, 4) Death/Destruction
Unfortunately, implementation of OSPF at this point looks 90% – 95% unlikely given that:
1) true transparency has never widely occurred in history to this day, despite our alleged advanced evolution,
2) there is significant resistance due to the two overwhelmingly negative aspects of human nature: greed and laziness
Or, Albert Einstein summed up more briefly:
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former.
3) The current system, i.e.status-quot, is just too powerful and entrenched with too many vested interests to break by any one person or even groups of people. (see ‘Obstacles’)
The logical conclusion is, therefore, OSPF could only be implemented after the ‘Destruction‘ phase.
For the necessary perspective, it is only necessary to look at past civilizations who have risen to regional or world control –
|Africa||Egypt (Ancient Egypt, 3150 BC-332 BC)|
|Europe||Greece (Ancient Greece, 800 BC-323BC), Italy (Roman Empire, 27BC-500AD), Spain (Conquistadors, 1500-1600), France (Napoleonic France & Second French Empire, 1804-1815, 1852-1870 resp.), United Kingdom (British Empire, 1500-1945), Austro-Hungarian Monarchy (1867-1918), Nazi Germany (1933-1945)|
|Asia||China (ancient and imperial periods – too many long dynasties to list), Japan (modern day)|
|Eurasia||Soviet Union (1922-1991)|
|South America||Maya civilization (1800BC-900AD), Inca civilization (1200-1573)|
|North America||U.S.A. (1945-Sept. 15, 2008)|

Downfall sometimes occurs rapidly (i.e. war) but more often very slowly over the course of a few hundred years, which can make it very difficult to see, as most people are concerned with what will happen in the next year of their life, let alone throughout their lifetime or even beyond. In either case, downfall is inevitable.
If the United States leaps forward and adopts such a system to become an example of true and genuine 100% transparency for the world to witness, the rising and ever more important emerging markets may look on with admiration and true partnership as opposed to the current trajectory, deepening apathy and increasing distance.
So, in the spirit of the original American Patriots, and, the citizens of many nations around the world who have struggled for equality against all odds, the noble goal is worth the effort.
Doug Larson might look at it in a different light:
Some of the world’s greatest feats were accomplished by people not smart enough to know they were impossible
We like to think of it more like:
It’s just a drop in the ocean, but at least a drop
Is this too close to:
[Jim Carrey]: “What are the chances of a guy like you and a girl like me? One in a thousand?”
[Lauren Holly]: “Um, more like one in a million.”
[Jim Carrey]: “So you’re saying there’s a chance!”
Pick whatever viewpoint you like, we propose the first small step forward to begin the OSPF Project, but first the Guidelines…
